"Art - The manifestation of the internal creative process
Matter -The weight or substance of an idea or object
Motion - Movement, inclination"
Art, Matter and Motion, Collen Cotton, Glass Artist

"Art, Matter and Motion are one for me. The dance of light through the glass; the movement of shade and shadow; the weight and balance of color-aligned; at odds, supported, supporting. These are the basis of my art which finds its form in the quiet movement of my hands and the expansive movement of the energy of my imagination."
Art Matter and Motion, Melissa McCann, Glass Artist

"My first encounter with stone was daunting. I couldn't imagine how this solid chunk of matter could yield to my chisel. Stone sculpting requires patience. Transforming this matter into form requires a dialog between the stone and the artist."
Art Matter and Motion, Jonna Ramey, Stone Artist

Start the New Year with Local Art

Petaluma, CA - Febraury 15, 2010 - With spring in the air and the wildflowers starting to show off their colors, we are drawn to the outdoor beauty of this time of year.  Whether you cultivate your surroundings or not, art can be outside and all around you. Join Dimensions Galleria for "Beyond the Garden Wall", a garden art show featuring some of Sonoma's most talented artists.

The show will open on March 17 and will run thru May 30, with an artist's reception on Friday, March 19, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dimensions Galleria will take on the look of an outdoor space, featuring metal sculpture by Sean Paul Lorenz and Susan Spicer, colorful totems and functional ceramics by Alexis Moyer and Suki Diamond, Nuala Creed's playful ceramic children, whimsical to rustic birdhouses by Ken Rhoads, Mary Laures, and Cheri Degenhardt, Nancy Winn's paper mache figurines, paper artist Susan Hersey with her illuminated sculptures and wall hangings, and Angela Casazza's mosaic birdbaths, urns and vessels, just to name a few. The walls will feature fine art from Mylette Welch, Ruby Newman, and Clay Vajgrt.

So come in and pass through the artful gate, built by Michael Singer, and see what awaits your visual senses and possibly your own garden. It might even seem a bit like Alice in Wonderland!
