"Art - The manifestation of the internal creative process
Matter -The weight or substance of an idea or object
Motion - Movement, inclination"
Art, Matter and Motion, Collen Cotton, Glass Artist

"Art, Matter and Motion are one for me. The dance of light through the glass; the movement of shade and shadow; the weight and balance of color-aligned; at odds, supported, supporting. These are the basis of my art which finds its form in the quiet movement of my hands and the expansive movement of the energy of my imagination."
Art Matter and Motion, Melissa McCann, Glass Artist

"My first encounter with stone was daunting. I couldn't imagine how this solid chunk of matter could yield to my chisel. Stone sculpting requires patience. Transforming this matter into form requires a dialog between the stone and the artist."
Art Matter and Motion, Jonna Ramey, Stone Artist

Start the New Year with Local Art

Petaluma, CA - April 15th, 2010 – On March 19th Dimensions Galleria opened a new show titled "Beyond the Garden Wall", featuring art for inside and outside the home. This is a display of art you won't want to miss.

Nuala Creed's life size ceramic nature children stand in the front windows to welcome everyone into the gallery. Rustic wooden birdhouses by Mary Laures and hanging willow bird nesters by Cheri Degenhardt create the feeling of spring in the air. Nancy Winn's paper mache figures are playful representations of the farm animals we see dotting the countryside, while Alexis Moyer’s bold ceramic totems rise up from their stands.

Enter the gallery. Metal sculpture by Susandra Spicer, Jan Schultz, and Sean Paul Lorentz will stretch your imagination and decorate your yard, if you are so inclined. Complimentary to the recycled metal is Wayne Berger's one of kind work using metal foils, creating timeless wall art. Susan Herse's illuminated sculptures and her "Forest Series" wall hangings will remind you of our preserved nature we so treasure here in Sonoma County. A granite stone vessel, formed and shaped by stone mason Matt Driscoll, adds a natural element to the mix in the space. Michael Singer's "Orbits" garden gate will entice you thru its entry and beyond to a world of color and splash in the next room. Larger than life paintings by Mark Lifvendahl, Mylette Welch, Clay Vajgrt, and Ruby Newman decorate the walls. Suki Diamond displays her whimsical totems, birdbaths, and functional stoneware that will liven up any outdoor space.  Angela Casazza's mosaic birdbaths, urns and vessels set the stage for Roberta Ahrens 7' x 8' wall hanging "Evening with a Poppy".

The show runs thru May 30th. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.  Alice, this could be Wonderland!
